Bay of Quinte Fishing Reports

Back to News
Fall Weather is here and so are the Walleye Bay of Quinte Fishing Report

The highlight of this week’s report would have to be the fact that we had the pleasure of hosting our Charter Package Winners this past weekend. Terry, Seeta and Greg arrived Friday Night and although they have camped here many times they had never seen our Vacation Suite. They were thrilled to have a warm toasty place on such a frosty night to watch TV and relax in preparation for Saturday’s Charter. Terry and Greg were up early and fishing with Nick (Nick’s report will give more details below),  while Seeta enjoyed some rest and relaxation in the suite for the day while the boys were on the water.

Meanwhile in other fishing news … Early to mid-week saw typical Fall weather with wind that kept all but the heartiest of anglers on the shore. By late week the conditions were more favourable for fishing. Water temperatures had dropped again to 52 to 55 degrees which is bringing the walleye in and turning on the bite. Water levels have also dropped again and are now 4 to 6 inches lower than opening day levels. Angler’s with larger boats (say 40 HP and up) should now be considering launching from Deseronto or Picton.

The cooler water temperatures are going to both reduce the weeds and entice the bite. Both are needed if you are going to be targeting the Resident Walleye in this part of the bay. Trolling Berkley Flicker Shades, Shade Raps and Walleye Divers are good choices if you are fishing the 15 to 20 FOW areas. If you are targeting shallow shoals, then try drifting with Worm and Worm Harnesses, Jigs or Cast and Retrieve with Spin Dr’s.

The County Shores campground water system will remain turned on until November 4 for anyone interested in RV camping. After November 4 we will have Electric Only Sites. We will start stocking Minnows after November 1st.

Report from Nick “Walleye” Werner of Werner’s Angling Adventures

Fun fall fishing for all! Winners of the County Shores / Werner’s Angling Adventures "Free Charter-n-Stay Giveaway" were in town this past week.

Father and son team Terry and Greg Chung-Kee were the lucky winners of a free stay at County Shores and a free Trophy Walleye Charter with Werner’s Angling Adventures.

The duo had fished the Bay of Quinte many times but had never been on a Walleye Charter before.

It was a memorable day for all of us as strong wind and rain had threatened to cancel the trip. Mother Nature worked out in our favour though and we were able to get on the water.

We launched out of Picton at 07h00 to a cool fall morning, there was a slight chop on the water as I set the lines.

Working our way past the cement plant the board jumped and it was "fish on"! Greg took the rod and cool as a cucumber reeled in a healthy 5lb Walleye. After a few high fives we continued our quest for some more Quinte Gold.

After a few more twists and turns that failed to produce we moved locations and set lines again in hopes of some more action. Within minutes a board bounced backwards… "Fish On"! As I scrambled to adjust the other lines another planer board pulled back… "Fish On" a "double header"... Woo Hoo!

The fight was a good one. Terry was more than excited as the fish went in the net, an 8lbr! A new personal best for Terry. The 2nd fish gave us the slip just after removing the board so we reset the lines. Wind and light rain moved in and the action slowed considerably. A few changes of baits and depths produced no action. With only an hour and a bit left in the day the inside board wiggled ever so slightly… "Fish On"! Greg took over the rod and a beautiful 3lb walleye came aboard the Kingfisher for a visit.

With the day winding to a close we packed our lines up and fired up the Mercury. Back at County Shores we were able to snap a few more photos and share a couple laughs before Terry and Greg had to head back.

It was great fun to take these winners out. Glad to have them aboard and I hope to see them on the water next year.

Keep checking on our websites at and for more contests, you could be a winner!
