Anglers Working Hard for their Catch Bay of Quinte Fishing Report, September 29, 2015

We enjoyed a beautiful week of Fall weather here at County Shores! Nice warm sunny days and cool nights for sleeping … It was perfect camping weather!

The fishing however was not so beautiful. Walleye were caught but Anglers had to really work for them. Fish still seem to be holding in the weeds but the weed growth is so heavy at present that it is hard to fish for them over the weed beds. The technique that seems to be producing the most fish is to troll the deeper water with Crank baits about 150 feet behind the boat and at about a speed of 2 MPH. The hope is that you will get fish that are on the move from bed to bed. Flicker Shad’s and Shad Rap’s remain the best choices for this presentation and the best location varies day to day from Trident Point to Telegraph Island.

Trolling or casting the edge of the weeds is also producing some success using Spin Dr’s for the casting or Worm Harnesses if you are trolling along the edge.

Water levels have dropped about another 4 to 6 inches but still remain higher than on opening weekend and are way higher than the last 3 or 4 Fall seasons.

Update from Nick "Walleye" Werner, from Werner's Angling Adventures:
The "Super Moon" came and went and now here comes the wind - Walleye fishing has been fair inside the Bay of Quinte. Anglers are still picking up reasonable numbers of fish in the 2-6 lb range. Trolling Crankbaits down 16-23 feet has been productive with Rapala Tail Dancers and Husky Jerks being the favourite. The large lake fish are really on the move and have been hard to keep up with for the past few days. They have their bags packed and will be arriving very soon if Mother Nature keeps these temperatures up. Watch for some more "pods" to arrive into the gap in the next week.

There are still Electric and Water Campsites available up to the end of October and Electric Only Campsites will be available until freeze up and beyond at County Shores.
